The world as we know it has two major religions: Christianity and Islam. Neither of these religions believes in talking with the dead. Despite the many differences, these two seem to agree on the spiritual fact that when a person dies, his soul goes somewhere and leaves this earth. Hence, we cannot, under any circumstances, talk with the dead.

However, Christian psychics do abound today. These two words, ironically speaking, should not even be used in the same sentence; they are simply irreconcilable. The church even warns its followers that communicating with the dead is communicating with the devil. In fact, so many horror movies had been created to highlight this warning.

So, why do Christians believe in Christian psychics? And, why are there Christian psychics in the first place?

Let us have the first question. Christians, no matter how devout they might be, are still bound by human instincts and emotions. We are so heartbroken when someone dear leaves us behind. Sometimes, the pain becomes unendurable that the grieving person resorts to psychic readings. In other words, they go to a Christian psychic so they can communicate with the departed loved one.

The reasons why people want to communicate with the spirits are varied. Some want to talk with their loved ones because they miss them so much. They want to know whether they are still hanging around with them unseen, or whether they have indeed found a good place, as what the Christian doctrine says. At other times, people want to communicate with their loved ones in order to clarify some things. For example, an old man who forgot to make his last will can be contacted by the members of the family in order to determine his will. It may sound absurd, but things like this do happen.

Christian psychics even cite, albeit falsely, biblical lines in order to justify their acts. They say that it is not forbidden by God to communicate with the dead for even His prophets communicated with their departed ancestors in order to seek guidance. Some people readily believe this. In fact, they will pay a lot of money just to talk with the dead.

Not all believers of the spirit are Christians, however. Some do not believe in the Christian God, but they do believe in the existence of spirits and souls. Contrary to Christian belief, these people believe that the souls of the dead do not go anywhere. Instead, they stay on earth fleeting here and there. For them, it is only logical to try to contact them every now and then.

Even though they do not believe in Christianity, they still seek the assistance of Christian psychics to do the psychic readings. This is because they believe that specific steps and more specific materials that only the Christian psychics know will lead to a successful intra-spirit communication. They believe that by communicating with the dead, they give themselves a better chance of dealing with everyday life because, after all, they have been advised by the dead.
